Friends in Faith Ministry

• To be a friend to people/families joining our church as they go through New Membership classes (conducted quarterly).
• To introduce them to the various groups and activities available at the United Methodist Church of New Lenox.

To complete this ministry the volunteer will be asked to:

• Contact the new member/family and become acquainted with them at church before the Introduction Dinner sponsored by the church at the end of the New Membership classes.
• Attend the Introduction Dinner and sit with the person/family and introduce your Friend in Faith to others as well as become acquainted with other new members of the church.
• Introduce your friend/family to the congregation when they join the church at morning worship (usually 9:00 AM service).
• Keep in touch with friend/family for the next ninety days. If possible, sit with them during Sunday service. Make them aware of groups, functions, and special events. If possible, even take them as guests. Telephone them 2 to 3 times a month to ask how they are and let them know you are there to support them in getting to know our church family and answer any questions they might have about our church.
