United Methodist Women

Our Purpose

The organized unit of the United Methodist Women (UMW) shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

General Information

There are General Meetings four times throughout the year to discuss concepts of mission and to enjoy special programs. This is an opportunity for all of the women of the UMW to join together in fellowship. The UMW also has an executive board that meets once a month to discuss present business and missions projects. There are six different women's circles within the UMW. Please read the descriptions below to determine which circle is right for you!

General Meeting

United Methodist Women will hold their general meeting on Wednesday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Program will be on the subject of racial justice. Ruth Circle will serve as hostess and Rebecca Circle will present devotions.

Women's Circles

Circle Description Next Meeting
Deborah Circle Deborah Circle currently has nine members and meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in members' homes or at church. Meetings include devotions and programs. It is one of the oldest circles in the church, started in the 1940's. Deborah members are always happy to welcome new women to their circle.
Hannah Circle Hannah Circle meets on the second Friday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in members' homes. Our circle has approximately 15 members of women ranging in age from mid 30's on up, but all are welcome to join us! Our meetings include Bible study, devotions, dessert and special service projects. We have children of various ages and often our conversation leads to the struggles of raising Christian children in today's world. The women of Hannah Circle have formed some wonderful friendships and are a great source of support for one another.
Lydia Circle
Martha Circle Martha Circle meets at 1:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in members' homes. It is a group of older and retired women, not Senior Citizens, but Recycled Teenagers. This circle started during the time we were called the Women's Society of Christian Service. We have been helping children for decades, sending financial aid to children in various countries. After a short business meeting, we have a wide variety of programs. Come join us for loving and caring fellowship.
Mary Circle Mary Circle meets the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in members' homes and occasionally at a restaurant. Programs and devotions are presented by the members and at times by guests. We try to use resources furnished by the UMW. Members participate in projects furnishing diapers to Groundwork on a regular basis. We are an active circle. Since many of us truly enjoy the preparation of food, we can often be found cooking in the church kitchen. We welcome women of all ages and would love to have you join us.
Rebecca Circle Rebecca Circle is a fellowship circle of friends in faith centered on women who generally have younger children; however, any women of the church are welcome. Our Rebecca Circle has informally “adopted” and focused much of our mission work on “Lamb’s Fold”, a Christian nonprofit human services organization providing transitional housing and residential domestic violence services to homeless women and children, helping them to regain their dignity, independence, and self-sufficiency in the process. Come grow through Christ, build strong friendships within our faith and help other women less fortunate do the same. We encourage you to visit with us, share your stories, laugh and find new friends in a relaxed and casual environment. We usually meet the third Friday of each month from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in circle members’ homes … and bring your children – they are ALWAYS welcome.
Ruth Circle Ruth Circle is a group of women of varied ages. We meet at 7:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, thus allowing working women to attend our meetings. We meet in members' homes and take turns providing refreshments, devotions and programs. We have a wide variety of programs on Mission, Prayer and Self-Denial, and other topics of interest. We give donations to local charitable organizations for women, send cards to shut-ins, and write to prison inmates and to active or retired missionaries. We enjoy fellowship and we invite you to join us. Ruth Circle will meet at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, April 2 at the home of Joyce Drotts. Co-hostess will be Betty Cleveland and devotions will be given by Bobbie Baird. Teri Hoyt will present the program.
